Web Design Ideas You Must Not Use

By Aaron Miller

When it comes to web design, there is such as a thing as too subtle and too exaggerated. Exaggerated web designs are those with too much graphics, too much images and too much flash animation flying around and about. When it comes to website design, choose something which visitors would appreciate and would be easy on their eyes.

There are some web designs that show great flash headers. However, these headers could be very distracting too particularly when your website is mainly an information provider. It splits your viewers' concentration and irritates the living daylights out of them. Many web designs nowadays have become this way - flash intensive, image laden and totally deflecting. These web designs go overboard, assaulting the viewers and pushing them away from your website.

The most critical aspect in web design is not showcasing the programmer or web designers' skills. It is in providing the visitors with what they need. However, there are lots of websites that violate this. Take for instance website A. Everytime you visit into website A, you hear loud, irritating background music. Note that website A does not sell music records or is it a radio station. Yet, music blasts from each page - loud, irritating and weird techno beats at that. Then there is website B, whose web design seems to be fit for the near sighted. Huge capital letters seem to shout. People do not like it when someone shouts at them. Plainly put, it just doesn't work. Pop-up windows are the problem of website C. Website C's web design is distinguished by annoying pop ups. Because of these pop ups we overlook necessary information. We even overlook the core message of the web page. These are just some. There may be more web designs that are irritating, at best. Web designers and webmasters should take note of these things.

As website works as the online brochure of an organization or company, showcasing its information and work processes, it is a must that its presentation would catch the attention of visitors. Web designers must concentrate on this ultimate goal.

The good thing is, nowadays, there are lots of web design companies that are conscious of the right practices in web designing, they can render solutions that would fit to your needs. You just need to be very careful in picking out which one you will hire.

Cris Cyborg Makes Short Work Of Gina Carano In Strikeforce Headliner

By Ross Everett

Gina Carano put women's MMA on the map, but Cris Cyborg Santos may have become the sports first dominant female champion by virtue of her overwhelming TKO victory in the main event of Saturdays STRIKEFORCE event. Cyborg simply was too physically strong and her punches too powerful for Carano.

Before a near capacity crowd at San Jose's HP Pavilion, Carano and Cyborg made history as the first women to headline a major US mixed martial arts event. The crowd went nuts for Carano, who was accompanied into the arena by Randy Couture who trained her for the matchup.

Despite the fight being scheduled for five rounds of five minutes each, the women set a frantic pace from the opening horn. Cyborgs size and strength advantage was apparent from the outset, as she landed an immediate flurry of punches before taking Carano to the canvas. Carano landed in top position, but quickly found herself in trouble as Cyborg worked for a kneebar and then a heel hook. Carano was able to extricate herself, and get to her feet but Cyborg took her back and immediately took her down again. Carano landed in top mount, however, and was able to score with some big punches from the top. Inexplicably, she backed off and let Cyborg get to her feet instead of pressing what may have been her best opportunity to win the fight.

Carano was able to land a couple of effective jabs on the ensuing standup exchange, but Cyborg caught a body kick attempt and quickly closed the distance again. Cyborg once again took her opponent to the mat and after an unsuccessful armbar attempt mounted Carano and began a brutal punching assault that eventually forced the stoppage.

Despite Cyborgs triumph the most dominating performance of the evening belonged to former DREAM middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi. In his first fight at 205, Mousasi destroyed STRIKEFORCE light heavyweight champion Renato Babalu Sobral via TKO at the 1:00 mark of the first round. Mousasis victory wasnt a shocking outcome, but the utter ease with which he handled a tough, experienced and well rounded opponent in Sobral was stunning and evoked comparisons to recently signed heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko. Making Mousasis triumph all the more incredible is that at 24 years of age hes only going to get better.

Earlier in a card full of decisive finishes, Gilbert Melendez became STRIKEFORCE interim lightweight champion with a third round TKO victory over the double tough Mitsuhiro Ishida. Though Melendez dominated the fight, Ishida gained the respect of fans with his toughness and heart. Melendez will now face Josh Thompson to unify the belts once Thompson is medically cleared to resume fighting.

The Arena Football League Calls It Quits

By Ross Everett

After canceling their 2009 season, the Arena Football League has shut down entirely and appears headed for bankruptcy. Earlier this week, the league office released a short statement indicated that it had ceased operations because owners were "unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months." The league had reached a new agreement with players earlier this year, but was unable to convince enough owners that they had a viable plan to return to profitability. The leagues statement continued that there are no other viable options available to the league right now."

Even before the decision was made to cancel the 2009 season this past December, it had been a tumultuous off-season for the Arena Football League. It began with the resignation of long time AFL commissioner David Baker just two days before the Arena Bowl championship game. Though Baker put a positive spin on his resignation saying that he felt it was time, it didn't exactly send a positive message about the future viability of the league.

In October, the owner of the New Orleans VooDoo announced that the team would cease operations"despite being one of the league leaders in attendance. In announcing that the team would fold, owner Tom Benson (who also owns the NFL Saints) suggested that the end of the five year old franchise was in no way an indictment of the New Orleans market.

With a dispersal draft planned to reassign the VooDoo personnel, uncertainty began to reign over the leagues future. The dispersal draft was scheduled and postponed several times amid assurances from the AFL office that rumors of financial instability were unfounded. The most recent announcement finally put all of the speculation to rest.

The inability to get any consensus on a business model for the league reportedly served as the final nail in the AFLs coffin. A major problem was skyrocketing player salaries, and some sort of compensation system tied to team revenues was a necessity. That agreement was reached with the players, but a bigger conflict between the owners on a variety of business model related issues were never able to be resolved.

Despite the demise of the Arena Football League, it wont be the end of the road for the twenty two year old sport. The 50 yard indoor war lives on in the AF2 league which, ironically, was originally started as something of a developmental organization for the AFL. The league plays in smaller markets and has a more realistic salary structure. A number of current AFL players"and possibly a couple of AFL franchises"could end up in AF2.

A Quick Look At Easy Backlink Building With RSS

By Mike Gates

The one thing most people know about easy backlink building with RSS, is that it's a good way to help increase search engine ratings for a website, but they've never considered that RSS can also help in other ways. Here's a short list of some reasons why a person should use continuous syndication feed, in all its roles, as one of his biggest allies for a successful web-enterprise or writing business:

Everyone knows internet businesses of all types are becoming more common, as people drop out of the nine to five routine in bigger numbers every year. Yet success in getting a new venture off the ground, and managing to get the attention of the internet consumer, is definitely easier said than done. Any help from an unexpected source, like RSS, is greeted like a long-lost friend. Why?

RSS feeds keep entrepreneurs informed of changes ahead of time: Internet software game retailers have the job of staying aware of what's new and cool in their particular realm. For one in this niche, his feed would run items with program release dates, and the like. With this information at his fingertips, he can have the latest fad available in this online store, and jump ahead of his competitors - who may still be sleeping at the wheel as far as awareness goes.

An online technical help business that provides help and repair for computer problems, would benefit from a feed of sites with this kind of technology. By keeping current on the latest information - staying educated on the most affordable repair options for his customer, places him as a forerunner in his niche. In addition, he gains an "in" with his feed of website's support staff by becoming a regular to them - and can solicit them for advice, and any questions he may have about the technology or repair options - before a customer asks him something he might be unsure of. He also gains an edge with this smart move - and will have a reputation of coming highly recommended by his loyal customers.

RSS can be used to add diversions to a blog, when there is nothing to post that day: Many blogs started off as a generic, all-purpose web letter for the benefit of friends and family, then ended up as a humor or observation blog with faithful fans. No blogger wants to lose his following by neglecting to post, but in lacking the time for daily upkeep, he can become lost for a win-win solution to the problem. Adding funny and entertaining content, in lieu of posts on those days he can't be there, is one way a blogger can distract his readers with something "shiny" - just until he can post something new.

RSS feeds can by utilized by aspiring writers to enter the profession earlier: There are those who want to write for a living, and know that to do so, it's crucial one establish a following of readers - and other writers, as well. The professional courtesy will be reciprocated, and he will forge new friendships with other writers. And if somewhere down the road one of his new friends knows a publisher the writer may like to meet - even better.
